MAIN PROJECT:
INTEGRATED NUTRITION AND HEALTH PROJECT (INHP)
The Joint Body has been working on this project after it was approved by the General Assembly in January 2013 and it will supported with the Fairtrade Premium.
Due to the current situation of constant inflation in the country all workers suffer difficulties when trying to buy healthy groceries needed as part of their proper diet. We are aware how important is the nourishment in the growing up stage of children.
This Project is to install an integrated nutritional health plan for all family members of Flores del Monte association. Its main objective is to run a plan that allows all families to access a healthy diet. They are currently receiving counseling from a professional (nutritionist) that will evaluate every family´s diet conditions. Every family will be educated and provided with the components needed to assure a good nutritional status in the family.
In terms of general health issues, the winery Casa del Rey has provided a Doctor (Occupational Physician) that will work together with the nutritionist and check all families to elaborate the integrated nutrition and health project. This will cover health needs, specially eye and dental care. Both of this areas are currently not well covered by the workers insurance.
At last , regarding the purchase of groceries, the association is committed to working with local growers or grocery suppliers in order to promote the fair Trade philosophy in the value chain.
